The Sixth Annual Art of All Ages Auction benefiting Comprehensive Child Development, Inc., (CCD) will be held at Howl Event Space on Sunday, February 28 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM to raise funds to reduce poverty among children and families in the Long Beach community.
CCD provides high quality early care and education, nutritious meals and parent support and education with the mission of building healthier and stronger families, according to the release.
Long time CCD supporters, Board Member Matthew Harms and past Committee Member Breanne Patterson, will be honored during the event. During last year’s auction, local artists John Montich and David Early were honored for their years of support.
“[Matthew] and Breanne have built this event from a small 10 artist auction held at CCD’s James S. Benedict Child Development Center to what the Art of All Ages Auction has become boasting 50 professional artists and over 100 incredible works of art,” said Nichols St. Louis, CCD’s development and communications director.
Local artists Christine Nguyen, David Early, David Gilmore, John Barney and John Montich will feature their artwork to be auctioned, alongside new and returning artists and of course, the young artists of CCD’s early care and education program. All funds raised through this event will go toward maintaining the high-quality early care and education programs CCD provides to homeless and extremely low-income children in the Long Beach and LA Harbor community, according to the release.

This single event provides support to CCD’s direct programs, serving 400 children and their families with high-quality early care and education, nutrition and parent education/support programs. The programs are geared toward ending the cycle of poverty by enabling parents to pursue education and vocational training, keep or find jobs and find housing and resources to ultimately lead a more stable life, says St. Louis.
One such program, entitled the Parent Education Partnership, is a new undertaking aiming to bring parenting education, financial education, job readiness/interview training, and health services/opportunities to the families served by CCD. St. Louis says the organization has launched this program at one center and will be expanding it to all five centers soon enough. This sixth annual Art of All Ages event will directly support that growth.
“We are hoping to make this Art of All Ages the most successful event to help us continue providing these vital services to children and their families,” said St. Louis.
