Ride your bike (holiday-style), check out a gingerbread village, attend a cultural celebration and say goodbye to Long Beach’s first gastropub this weekend.

Moonlight Mash Long Beach

Inspired by Moonlight Mash Eugene, “a social celebration of bicycling under the light of the full moon,” local bicycling advocate and Long Beach native Charlie Hockett is bringing the first ever Moonlight Mash Long Beach to our seaside city. Decorate yourself and your bike with holiday lights, a Santa costume, or reindeer antlers, whatever gets you in the holiday spirit—don’t forget your helmet—and show up at Harvey Milk Plaza at 7:00PM for a fun, festive, Friday night ride.

Posada Navideña

Long Beach Councilmember Roberto Uranga will host the Seventh District’s inaugural Posada Navideña on Saturday from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. With its origins in Spain, Las Posadas is a nine-day celebration now revered largely in Mexico, Guatemala and parts of the Southwestern United States. While rooted in Catholic tradition, both religious and nonreligious community members are invited to join the festivities.

Focused around bringing the community together and promoting cultural awareness, the celebration will feature a procession, bilingual sing-alongs, traditional drink and appetizers and a performance by Mariachi Los Amigos, according to this preview (which you can read for more info).

Gingerbread Village at MADE in Long Beach

Don’t miss checking out this sugared enormity before it’s taken down the first week of the New Year. This Gingerbread Village is made of nearly 300 pounds of powdered sugar and 300 hours of mega patience, if you can only imagine. MADE in Long Beach is open Friday and Saturday from 10:00AM to 6:00PM and Sunday from noon to 6:00PM. So stop by, ogle at the village and pick up a holiday gift for a friend or family member.

We-Op Coffee + Food Pop-Up at Sura Korean BBQ

With their Sweet Fall Toast, a slice of Rhubarb Pie, a Cardamom Spice Latte or a Simple Egg + Toast, Wide Eyes Open Palms has you covered for a productive work morning or a coffee to be had after a filling lunch at Sura. Angie Evans’ and Kat McIver’s residency at Sura will sadly come to an end before the two take a well-deserved break. They’re not sure quite yet if they’ll be back, so get your kimchi and coffee while this delectable partnership lasts (until Saturday, December 19 from 7:30AM to 2:00PM).

The Factory Gastropub Closing Day Party

It’s a bittersweet month for The Factory Gastropub in Bixby Knolls. While the locally loved beer celebrates its sixth anniversary, it will also say adieu (but not without a party). On Saturday a Factory-style farewell celebration will commence, with a week long get $1 off beer or 20 percent off wine when you wear any article of Factory clothing or bring in your St. Patrick’s Day mug. The Factory will be open during normal hours.
