The Arts Council for Long Beach announced this week that the 2015-2016 Annual Grant Cycle Applications and Guidelines are now available. For applications and guidelines via the Arts Council website, click here.

The Arts Council provides three types of annual grants to fund Long Beach artists and their work, organizations and initiatives: The Community Project Grant Operating Grants I and II and Professional Artist Fellowship Grants. These grants are supported through the City of Long Beach’s allocation for the arts.

The Community Project Grant program supports the exemplary artistic, cultural and arts educational projects of arts and cultural organizations in the city. This grant encourages innovative, creative and unique programming and supports cultural projects that meet diverse community needs.

Operating Grants provide unrestricted operating support to Long Beach-based arts and cultural organizations that collect, preserve, present and/or commission exemplary works of art, such as visual art exhibitions, theatre, dance and/or musical performances. According to the arts council, works of art must be of regional significance for the benefit of the general public and provide educational opportunities that enable audiences to better understand and appreciate the arts.

The Professional Artist Fellowship honors a selection of Long Beach living artists. These awards recognize artists who live, work or actively create in Long Beach and demonstrate an active exhibition and/or production record of at least three years. Awards are granted based on artistic merit and professional achievement.

Last year, the arts council awarded five fellowships to its first all-female class.

For those interested in learning more, the next Grant Technical Assistance Workshop will be held on Thursday from 4:00PM to 5:30PM at The Collaborative, located at 421 West Broadway. To RSVP, please email [email protected].

All Grant Applications are due or must be postmarked by Wednesday, July 15, 2015 and must be sent to Arts Council for Long Beach, 350 Elm Avenue.
