bayoufestPrepare your palates for a mouthful of Cajun and Creole fare and your dancing feet for a weekend of zydeco and blues beats, because the Long Beach Bayou Festival, now in its 29th year, has just announced its 2015 lineup.

On the Zydeco Stage, Grammy-nominated bands Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys and Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie will electrify the room. Grammy-winner Joel Savoy and Cajun Hall of Famer, Jesse Legé will make a toe-tapping appearance with their band Cajun Country Revival while West Coast favorites T Lou & His Hot Louisiana Zydeco Band, Bonne Musique Zydeco and David Sousa & the Mudbugs should fill the wooden dance floor with beginners and seasoned steppers alike.

The Blues Stage will feature the likes of multiple award-winning artist Zac Harmon, along with the Stony B Blues Band, whose leader Stony B has played behind Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Junior Wells and Koko Taylor, among others. Famed bass player, Corney Mims, who has performed with Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Natalie Cole, Snoop Dogg, George Michael and others will bring his band, Knowitallz up to the stage and will feature Barbara Morrison & Rodz Kids from the Roderick D. Jones Foundation.

The New Orleans Traditional Jazz Band will lead a costumed Mardi Gras parade on both days and a French Quarter marketplace will feature gumbo, crawfish étouffée, jambalaya, hush puppies and other Cajun and Creole delicacies, plus coffees and desserts such as sweet potato pie, beignets and an array of cobblers.

Stoke that competitive spirit and sink your teeth into the crawfish and watermelon eating contests, while the young ones enjoy a Kids’ Corner with children’s crafts, to include costume, mask and umbrella-making activities for the Mardi Gras Parade.

The event is presented by Benoit Entertainment Group and a portion of the profits will benefit Louisiana to Los Angeles (LALA), a non-profit organization that raises funds for local youth to attend college. The festival is sponsored by City National Bank, Shock Top, Waste Management, Benoit Entertainment Group, LLC and Rainbow Promotions, LLC.
