DiPiazza will host “A Night of Estrogen,” an all women show of which the proceeds will go toward the WomenShelter of Long Beach (WSLB). Several local solo musicians, comedians, poets and dancers will take the stage in empowering harmony on Friday, April 3 at 8:00PM.
Nicole Santiago, a local musician, came up with the idea with a group of local musicians after an open mic night. Inspired by Women’s History Month, at first, the show was planned to simply showcase an all woman lineup of talented local artists and musicians, but the more Santiago spoke to the community about it, the more she realized that donating to a woman’s organization, specifically WSLB, would be ideal.
Santiago explained, “I am a local musician, but used to consider myself a ‘closeted’ musician. I only felt comfortable performing indoors, with all the windows and doors shut and no one around. Now, with the inspiration I’ve received from so many other female artists, I have begun performing and sharing my personal songs with those willing to listen.”
She continued, “I find it very empowering to be on stage with so many talented women, and feel that we can all come together to strengthen one another by doing what we love.”
A Night of Estrogen will feature more than sixteen female performers will be sharing the stage and their talents, starting at 8:00PM with live art by Esmeralda Villalobos, Jamie Ang Lee, Kelsie Parker and Tracy Negrete, followed with comedy by Heather Hooks and Victoria Cordova, known for Funny or Die. At 9:00PM, singer and songwriter Kris Doron will kickoff the music portion of the evening, followed by Queen Califia, poetry by Shy but Flyy, King Kang, Freeze, Lindsay Alexis Smith, Nicole Santiago, Jesi DePalo and lastly a dance performance by Maha and Co. at midnight.
Guests can also participate in an opportunity drawing, of which the proceeds will go toward the shelter. Sponsors include DiPiazza, Envy Beauty Studio and Éclectique Boutique. Sponsorships are still available. Those interested in donating to the opportunity drawing can contact Nicole Santiago at [email protected].
Tickets are $10 per person at the door, parking is free.
DiPiazza’s is located at 5205 E. Pacific Coast Hwy.
