Whether you want to shop, dine or go all in on some holiday cheer this weekend, Long Beach is ready to get you out of the house.
Locals can check out a sprawling holiday market in Zaferia, experience a beautiful Christmas concert from the Long Beach Chorale and Chamber Orchestra or play in the snow in Downtown. We’ve also found a DJ tribute night to the ’70s band The Cramps and a unique cider and pie tasting.

BAMBOO CLUB’S HOLIDAY MOVIE NIGHTS (Wednesday & Sunday)
Every Wednesday and Sunday until Dec. 21, tiki lounge The Bamboo Club is hosting a free holiday movie screening in its outdoor tent area.
Christmas movies such as “Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Die Hard” will be screened on a massive 8-foot-by-12-foot 4K LED screen TV. The movie on Wednesday, Dec. 7, will feature “Elf,” and “Home Alone” will play on Sunday, Dec. 11. The screenings begin at 7:30, but guests are encouraged to arrive early to snag a seat.

THE SLOP STOMP ALL VINYL TRIBUTE TO THE CRAMPS (Friday)
The 1970s psychobilly band The Cramps is getting a lot of play these days thanks to the now-viral dance scene in Netflix’s “The Addams Family” spinoff show, “Wednesday.” In episode four, the show’s titular character, Wednesday Addams, dances to the band’s 1981 cover song “Goo Goo Muck,” which has caused the song to blow up on streaming platforms decades past its prime.
Whether or not Netflix’s show tipped local DJ troupe The Slop Stomp to devote a DJ night to the psychobilly progenitors, we can’t say, but regardless, Friday night at Alex’s Bar will be a fine time to prowl the dance floor.

HOUSEPLANTS FOR HEALING PLANT SWAP (Saturday)
Yes, this event is just how it sounds: A mutual bartering of your potted plants. Why might you consider taking your leafy treasures and putting them up for adoption? There are plenty of reasons. To diversify, maybe. Curiosity, perhaps. Boredom.
Whatever the reason, it’s also an ample opportunity to make a few like-minded plant-loving friends and practice your bartering skills, because yes, you’ll have to convince the other person to trade with you—that’s how trading works. The more plants you bring, the more trades you can make.
Bring your healthy plants (or cuttings) to Rooted plant store in the Los Cerritos neighborhood between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to join. There will also be raffles, games and refreshments. The event is free to attend. Click here for more information.

CIDER & PIE PAIRING (Saturday)
Ficklewood Ciderworks and The Pie Bar are teaming up to present a special cider and pie pairing tasting Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Downtown cidery.
Guests will get to enjoy four different Ficklewood ciders paired thoughtfully with four of The Pie Bar’s “cutie pies,” which are darling sample-sized desserts served up in shot glasses. LET IT SNOW! MOSAIC HOLIDAY STROLL (Saturday)
On Saturday, Dec. 10, the stretch north of 300 The Promenade N. (dubbed “Mosaic“) that hosts the weekly Thursday Night Market is throwing a holiday event with shopping, games, s’mores and a snow play area for children.

LONG BEACH CHORALE’S “GLORIA! SONGS OF HOLIDAY JOY” CONCERT (Saturday & Sunday)
The Long Beach Chorale and Chamber Orchestra (LBCCO) returns for its 34th season with a holiday celebration featuring Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and other seasonal anthems curated to evoke holiday cheer.
The concert will also include arrangements of the spiritual “Go Tell It On the Mountain” and a lively rendition of “Psalm 150.” The LBCCO will perform at Grace First Presbyterian Church Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10 and 11. The show on both nights starts at 4 p.m. General entry costs $35, and children’s tickets cost $10.

CORONADO AVENUE HOLIDAY MARKET (Sunday)
Shop local in Zaferia during the Coronado Avenue Holiday Market on Sunday, Dec. 11. Back for its second year, guests can expect more vendors to shop from selling wares such as jewelry, clothing, art, handmade glassware and bath and body products from over 35 small businesses.
Part of Coronado Avenue between Anaheim and 14th streets will be closed off to traffic, so guests can freely roam about to shop. There will also be live entertainment and Mexican food from Tacos La Revancha. Plus, cocktails and mimosas from Port City Tavern and The Crooked Duck to enjoy.
The Coronado Avenue Holiday Market runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to attend. Guests can find free parking at the Compound parking structure at 1326 Obispo Ave. and at Farmers & Merchants Bank at 3140 E. Anaheim St. Click here for more information.

LONG BEACH SYMPHONY’S HOLIDAY POPS CONCERT MAKES THE SEASON MERRY – LONG BEACH ARENA (Saturday)
With tickets to Long Beach Symphony’s Holiday Pops, Christmas and Hanukkah presents don’t have to come from a store — perhaps, they can mean just a little bit more — and the joy can last the entire year to come!
Give your friends and family the gift of music this season and spend the most wonderful time of the year together singing along with the hap-hap-happiest holiday songs at Long Beach Symphony’s annual Holiday Pops concert. Under the direction of renowned guest conductor Morihiko Nakahara, the orchestra will be joined by the Long Beach Camerata Singers and various caroling Southland community choirs.
Holiday Pops will make the symphony’s 88th season bright at the Long Beach Arena on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 8 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:30 for audiences to bring their food, libations, and even decorations, for a party of symphonic proportions with picnicking and dancing. Individual concert tickets start at $30, and three-concert sample packs start at $99.
