Reservations are being taken for the 9th District Captain Training this Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the North Long Beach Community Center located at 2311 E. South Street. This is a free four-hour training focused on understanding and analyzing the community factors that shape health, safety, and equity.

This training will also provide information on how to develop comprehensive strategies in the areas of healthy eating and active living.

Topics include:

  • How to create environments that prevent illness and injury in the first place.
  • Successful examples from across the state and around the country of efforts to improve healthy eating and active environments, policy and practices.
  • Introducing and applying Prevention Institutes’s nationally recognized tools.
  • Creating a dialogue among participants about current successes and challenges, opportuniies, and innovative strategies.

This training is open to all residents who want to get involved in out 9th District Captain program. Lunch, child care, and interpretation will be provided.
