10:00am | The story of the historic Rancho Los Alamitos spans centuries, and Claudia Jurmain and William C. Wells were tasked with finding creative and compelling ways to share it with visitors to the site. Here, they speak about the process, challenges, and discoveries they made along the way.
Under the guidance of a Master Plan for the site that was developed over more than 2 decades, the Rancho began a significant preservation and restoration process that culminates in a public Grand Opening on June 10th, 2012.
This historic and cultural treasure, an oasis atop Bixby Hill, has served as an iconic touchstone for thousands of local children, providing them with a glimpse into a past that, while at the Rancho, doesn’t seem quite as remote. The truth, then, is that the Rancho is alive, and its history is still being written. It is truly “Ever Changing, Always the Same.”
