Sail Away on Alamitos Bay The United States Sailing Center of Long Beach is offering free sailboat rides on Alamitos Bay during their Open House next Saturday, May 19th , this coincides with the kick-off of National Safe Boating Week 2012. The Open House will be held from 11:00am until 3:00pm.
All are welcome to come to the Sailing Center to participate in an introductory sail and learn about the many sailing programs that are available for both adults and kids.
Free hot dogs and drinks will be served during the Open House and life jackets will be given out to promote boating safety. Drawings will also be held to give away Adult Keelboat Sailing classes and Kids Summer Sailing Camp sessions.
If you are interested in purchasing a boat, the Sailing Center has many dinghies, sailboats and powerboats in all shapes and sizes. They will be previewing some of the boats that will be for sale during their “Annual Marine Yard Sail” on Saturday June 16th.
The United States Sailing Center – Long Beach offers a wide range of programs that range from youth summer sailing camps, adult “Learn-to-Sail,” outreach for at-risk and disabled as well as programs for high-school, collegiate and Olympic sailors. The non-profit US Sailing Center is administered by the Pacific Coast Sailing Foundation; tax-deductible donations may be made to the PCSF to support these programs.
