11:50am | Long Beach artists, musicians, promoters and arts activists are invited to an “Arts Bootcamp” on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the EXPO Building in Bixby Knolls, located at 4321 Atlantic Avenue.

“This fast-paced and intensive training format will provide participants with information that will contribute to a stronger arts scene in Long Beach,” says John Glaza, Interim Executive Director of the Arts Council for Long Beach.

Attendees will receive essential insight and guidance from a cross-section of Long Beach arts scene veterans. The three-hour evening includes six topical discussions:

  • “Show Yourself: Exhibition Spaces, Performance Venues in Long Beach”
  • “Creating Art Spaces: How We Did It”
  • “Grantseeking Tips”
  • “Marketing Essentials”
  • “Partnering with Long Beach Schools: What Every Artist and Organization Should Know”
  • “Meet the Media”

“This event is an innovative new feature in our annual GLOBAL program,” explains Glaza. “GLOBAL promotes Long Beach artists and arts events every October. In addition, the Arts Bootcamp is an opportunity for Long Beach artists and activists to share and receive quality information that can be used all year round.”

Admission is $10.00 and includes access to any sessions and a closing mixer with complimentary food, drinks and music. Tickets are available at the door and in advance online at www.GLOBALLB.com/camp.
