1:25pm | Councilmember Robert Garcia, LGB2NETWORK and Downtown Long Beach Association (DLBA) will host a benefit for the St. Mary’s C.A.R.E. program this Thursday, August 18, 2011, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at L’Opera restaurant.

The C.A.R.E. program provides funds for AIDS/HIV patients and programs in Long Beach, including research and education.

As part of the program at L’Opera, a representative of Southern California Edison will be on hand to present a $500 donation to St. Mary’s. Representatives from C.A.R.E will also be in attendance. The presentation will be at 6:45 pm.



”St. Mary’s does incredible work in the community, and is leading efforts in Long Beach when it comes to AIDS education and treatment,” said Garcia. “The Care to Dine program is doing so much to improve the health of our City, and I’m honored to be able to be a part of that, and grateful to all the donors.” 

Attendees at the event will receive one cocktail and hosted hors d’oeuvres with a suggested donation of $20. L’Opera will donate 20% of all restaurant proceeds that night for the C.A.R.E. program.

August 15, 10:34am | Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal and the Gay and Lesbian Center of Greater Long Beach will be hosting a fundraising event to fight AIDS on Thursday, August 18, 2011. The event called C.A.R.E. to Dine will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and proceeds raised will benefit the clients of the only comprehensive HIV care program in Long Beach.

Proceeds are raised by participating restaurants, which donate 20% of the day’s food , beverage, and alcohol sales. Lola’s Mexican Cusine at 2030 East 4th Street will be host the C.A.R.E. to Dine event.

There is a $20 minimum donation that includes draft beer, house wine, or sangria, a ticket for a prize drawing, and appetizers.
