11:11am | Saturday and Sunday saw Long Beach children competing in the Richard Miller Sea Festival Novice Swim/Dive Meets at Belmont Olympic Pool and Silverado Park Pool respectively.
The program, funded from money raised by LA84 Foundation during the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics, starts at the beginning of summer and takes place in local pools. At the end of the eight week program all participants compete in the City of Long Beach’s Sea Festival meets put on by Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine. Top performers move on to the LA84 Festivals where they will compete against their peers from different cities in the LA84 program.
Tammy Masten, Aquatic Supervisor for Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine speaking about the weekend’s meets said, “The kids and coaches of our teams have put a lot of hard work and time in getting ready to compete and I am happy to say we had some good results.”
