3:45pm | Do you know an artist, arts leader, arts patron or volunteer who deserves to be recognized for their contributions to our cultural vibrancy? The Arts Council For Long Beach is seeking nominations for its Distinguished Arts Awards, which will be held at the Art Theatre in Long Beach on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.
Nominations that were previously submitted for the October 2010 Distinguished Arts Awards will be included as part of the review process, and will be reviewed with additional nominations for the April 6, 2011 event. An independent panel will review nominations and select the award recipients. Nominations are due by Tuesday, February 15, 2011.

The Arts Council will honor three exemplary individuals or organizations that have played an essential role in furthering the arts in Long Beach. These non-monetary awards are bestowed in recognition of excellence, devotion, and community contribution. Below is a list of the awards:
Distinguished ARTIST of the Year Award
The Distinguished Artist of the Year Award honors exemplary contributions to the Long Beach arts community by a visual, literary, or performing artist.
Distinguished Arts LEADERSHIP Award
The Distinguished Arts Leadership Award honors exceptional leadership contributions to the Long Beach arts community by arts professionals in the visual, literary, or performing arts. Nominees may include arts or cultural organizations, arts support organizations, or individual arts professionals.
Distinguished Arts PATRON or VOLUNTEER Award
The Distinguished Arts Patron or Volunteer Award honors superlative leadership contributions to the Long Beach arts community by an arts patron or volunteer in the visual, literary, or performing arts. Nominees should be individuals who have provided significant leadership through volunteerism and/or patronage.
