6:45am | Ten years ago, Long Beach created the first Bicycle Master Plan and now the City is looking for suggestions on planned updates. The public is encouraged to attend upcoming community workshops in almost every neighborhood. Saturday neighborhood bike rides will also be planned with Charles Gandy, Long Beach’s Mobility Coordinator who will be on hand to answer questions.

Through Bicycle Master Plan workshops, community members will have the opportunity to both learn about and experience innovative bicycle facility treatments, including bike boulevards and sharrows, while participating in the planning of an innovative alternative transportation system that serves users of all ages and skill levels.

The first Bicycle Master Plan Community Workshop & Bike Ride will be from 11:30am to 1:00pm on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Lowell Elementary,
5201 East Broadway 90803. The bike ride departs Lowell at 11:30am and the Community Workshop is from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
