8:00am | Antonio Pedro Ruiz, cofounder of The Creativity Network, invited me to speak with him on his Imagine This Radio program about my article that was published last Monday, titled ArtX: Myth and Madness. The article addresses community-wide concerns about the proposed Art Exchange art center, slated to be developed by the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency on the corner of 3rd Street and Long Beach Boulevard.
In addition to the second part of a two part conversation with me, this week’s program features an interview with Publisher of the Long Beach Post, Shaun Lumachi, about the 10 most ‘powerful’ people in Long Beach. Alive Theatre’s Danielle Dauphinee talks about their production of Tom Stoppard’s celebrated play, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, presented at the new Naples Fine Art Center. Kamran Assadi, Board President of Arts Council for Long, and Board member Rev. Jane Galloway talk about the revised Cultural Master Plan, that was recently presented to the City Council. Local artist Betsy Lohrer Hall speaks about a project, Dream Stories, which seeks brief stories of people’s actual dreams for part of an installation that will be exhibited in a solo show taking place next Spring. Judy Seal of the Long Beach Education Foundation speaks about their Principal for a Day program, and the show closes with John Thomas, Board member of the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles, speaking about a new book he helped create that explores vintage photographs documenting the history of the Queen Mary.
