10:45am | The city’s arts organization is calling for local artists and architects to apply for an upcoming design project that will be located in vacant lots across Long Beach.
The Arts Council for Long Beach is planning a Mobile Arts and Architecture project that will consist of an artist-architect team to design and produce “a portable, flexible, and architecturally significant performance venue,” according to a press release.
Interested artists should submit applications by November 12. Requirements are available at this ArtsLB.org website. The project is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Similar recent arts projects have popped up – or soon will – in currently unused space in the city, such as the Chantilly Clad exhibit at Ocean Blvd. and Lime Avenue, and upcoming projects at various intersection medians. Those artists hailed from Los Angeles, Arizona and New York, respectively.
