As many of you know, Taylor and I run Preferred Debt Solutions in the city of Bellflower, so around lunch time we like to venture about to find new places to eat. Recently I noticed a little place called Fronk’s, asked around, and heard great things, so a few Fridays ago Dianne and I decided to make a trip to the good ol’ Bellfleezy to see what the fuss was all about. The food was so good that on the following Monday I returned with my buddy Miles, and both times the food was outstanding.
On the first go around I took a good look at the menu and almost heeded the siren call of the burgers, but wanted to try something different. I flipped over to the entrée section, perused it briefly, and decided to order the Blue Cheese Steak. This is an 8oz Black Angus Flat Iron Steak that is covered with blue cheese crumbles. When it showed up to the table it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The blue cheese was melting all over the top of this beautiful piece of meat and I almost did a back flip (I say almost because my fat ass was wedged between the bench and table pretty well). Dianne chose to have the Pulled Pork Sandwich, of which I stole a bit as I always do for testing purposes. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the sauce was a wonderful mix of sweet and spicy at the same time. Very delicious!!
The next trip I made with Miles was all about burgers. I had seen many of them go by as I was eating my steak and could not help but want one of those as well. I quickly decided that I was going to have the Bull Burger, which is a ½ lb of Angus Beef with a fried egg, maple bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, and grilled onions. It was very righteous!!! Miles tackled the Burger Meister-Meister Burger. This starts again with the ½ lb Angus patty, but then adds smoked sausage, grilled peppers and onions, and provolone cheese with spicy mustard. I snuck a bit of this as well and the burger was one for the ages. The sausage reminds me of one of my favorite burgers ever which is The Shack Burger at The Shack in Playa del Rey. Needless to say, if you are looking for a dynamite burger just make your way to Fronk’s.
The entrées are not the only reason to visit Fronk’s, there are also the sides. You have many to choose from: Seasoned French Fries, Fresh Sautéed Veggies, BBQ Baked Beans, Beer Battered Zucchini Sticks, Brown Rice, Sweet Potato Fries, Buttered Corn, Cheesy Smashed Black Beans, Cajun Tomato and Onions, Beer Battered Onion Rings, Cole Slaw, and of course the House Salad and the soup of the day. With every entrée you get a choice of two of these, and with the burgers and sandwiches you get one. I have tried the Zucchini, Onion Rings, and Smashed Black Beans. The Onion Rings and Zucchini are really good. Perfect batter, not too much and not greasy when you bite in. The Smashed Cheesy Black Beans are wonderful, with a great smoky flavor, smooth texture and filled with cheesy goodness. I have ordered them three times and will again the next time I go.
If you are a real foodie like I am, then you also need to try the dessert even if you are so stuffed that you think you are going to pop. Dianne does not subscribe to this rule so I had to get it in when I went with Miles. We had the Peanut Butter Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae. They make homemade Godiva chocolate brownies, and then melt real peanut butter all over the plate. They place the brownie on the peanut butter and then pour tons of hot fudge on top of two very large scoops of vanilla ice cream. I don’t think that I need to tell you how good this was.
Fronk’s is a truly great little restaurant. The ambiance is cool and hip, the servers are kind and helpful and most importantly the food is to die for. To be honest while writing this article I had to stop in the middle and go there for lunch because I had worked myself into such a food frenzy thinking about it. Make a trip up and I am sure that you will be happy that you did.
Until Next Time, Keep Eating Long Beach (area),
