10:15am | An event that ties physical health to financial health will be hosted this Saturday when the Health & Wellness Expo takes place at the Union Bank Long Beach Renaissance at 1900 Atlantic Ave from 10:00am-3:00pm this Saturday. The event will provide information focused on heart health, women’s health and disease prevention with an emphasis on financial well being.

Basically, how to stay healthy without breaking the bank.

Physicians on site will offer free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose testing. The event is hosted by 6th District Councilmember Dee Andrews in conjunction with Long Beach Memorial Hospital, the St. Mary Medical Center, the Susan G. Kowen Foundation, the American Heart Association and Union Bank.

β€œIt is so important for us to learn preventive measures to keep us healthy as we reach for longevity,” Councilman Andrews said in a press release. “I am excited that so many experts have joined together to bring awareness to our residents.”

Andrews will open the event with brief remarks, followed by a Women’s Health Awareness Presentation at 10:05 while booths and vendors provide testing and information throughout the day. Other highlights include Cheryl L. Browne, MD, from the American Heart Association who will speak on health with an African American focus at 12:00pm. A speaker from Union Bank will speak on financial health at 2:15pm. Each presentation will conclude with a Q&A session.
