1:30pm |Frank E Cummings III is a highly regarded and collected sculptural fine artist, who works primarily in wood. His work is in the permanent collection of Twentieth Century American Crafts in the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History, the White House Permanent Collection, the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and in private collections around the world.

Early in his professional career he developed a friendship with Dr. Irving Lipton, a successful pediatrician who was an avid collector and patron. In this video, Cummings speaks about the significance of Lipton’s legacy as a collector, and friend.

Part of the Lipton Collection, including works by Cummings, was given to the Long Beach Museum of Art, and will be on display from September 17, 2010 through April 3rd, 2011.
