This Saturday, at the Renaissance High School for the Arts, people from all walks of life are gathering to share their vision for arts in Long Beach. Community leaders, artists, and regular folks who recognize the value of a dynamic and unfettered cultural landscape will be creating a map of sorts, a document that the City will use in planning decisions for the next 20 years.
Create Long Beach, the aptly named process of revising the Cultural Master Plan for the City, is now in the final stretch. With assurances from the City that it will be included in its 2030 Plan, this will be the first time the City has included an arts component in its long term planning.
There is still time for your ideas to be included. Your participation is critical. Why? Because your unique set of experiences and perspectives are the catylist for positive, long-term change.
There’s an on-line invitation where you can let the organizers know that you plan to attend. There are also resources you can explore to discover the scope of the process, and the main issues that have emerged over the last year.
If you recognize that the City’s cultural and creative landscape is, or can be, a powerful positive tool for the City’s continued prosperity, please commit to becoming involved.
