9:00am | Authorities with the police and fire departments of Long Beach and Los Angeles, along with the FBI, U.S. Coast Guard and many other departments participated in an anti-terror drill yesterday in downtown Long Beach to simulate response to an emergency situation.
Because of the close proximity of two large ports, security measures like these are conducted often to ensure that any threat can be dealt with quickly and effectively. Local leaders such as Mayor Bob Foster, Police Chief Jim McDonnell and newly-named Fire Chief Alan Patalano were all on hand, as was Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Check out the Long Beach Fire Department blog for more information about yesterday’s exercise.
Daniel DeBoom was on hand as well, and brings us these photos from the action.
