The Coffee Cup Cafe – Online Menu
3734 E. 4th St. (562) 433-3292 7 days a week, 7AM-2PM
As many of you know, I love Fourth Street! First of all it is close to home, and when you wake up hung over the last thing that you want to do is have to drive too far to get breakfast. Second, it is the home of the Coffee Cup Café. I have gone through months where I eat there two to three times a week. The food is wonderful, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is captivating.
One of the things I love about the Cup is that there are many items on this menu that you will not find anywhere else. The Chicken Chili Verde Omelet is delectable. If you know me, you know I like my food spicy, and this omelet gets after it. The egg is thinly layered and has chicken and cheese throughout, which probably does not sound all that special. Well, then comes the homemade Chili Verde Sauce.  They make it fresh and it shows, as it makes this an unforgettable breakfast.
The Juan’s Favorite is an omelet with fresh peppers and Veggie Chorizo. Now, I am usually not on board for the whole veggie thing, but this stuff is fantastic and tastes like real chorizo only not as greasy. If you get the Huevos Rancheros you will not be disappointed; just ask for half red sauce and half green sauce for the full experience. As far the Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast goes, do I really need to say any more? How about this: it’s delicious.
Of course, there are many other things on the menu besides breakfast, including excellent salads, burgers, and sandwiches, but the lunch items will have to wait for the full treatment. However, the food is not the only reason that I love the Cup. The place is very clean and well kept, the service is outstanding, and the decor is pretty rad. At the owner’s request, the dining room walls are adorned for several weeks at a time with the works of different local artists. This is an awesome match, as the place is packed all the time and the exposure is outstanding. They recently displayed several pieces done by pouring different resins onto canvas, giving the appearance of intricate slabs of granite, and it was the coolest art that I had ever seen.
The Coffee Cup Café is a must if you reside in or visit the LBC.  If you go in on a Saturday or Sunday be prepared to wait for a bit.  After you get your name on the list I recommend you grab a cup of coffee, head outside, and take in the 4th Street vibe. It is a great spot.
Until Next Time, Keep Eating, Long Beach.
