Here’s to your health: The Health Freedom Expo—“You’ve Got Questions, We’ve Got Answers”—will take place this weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center. The Expo, which begins Friday at 10 a.m., has as its mission the empowerment of people so that they may be informed about their health-care choices, and also “to support healthy lifestyles, enhance good nutrition, and encourage Americans to make daily, sensible life choices that combat ill health rather than create it.” The event features more than 90 prominent speakers who include Congresswoman Diane Watson, Judith Orloff, MD and former Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno, who is now green only on the inside. There will be panels on systemic health dangers of mercury, cancer issues, antiaging discoveries and practices, and many others; and a special documentary night featuring three short films short films covering how chemicals and agribusiness threaten food supply and the qualities of health and life.
The Expo also will showcase more than 200 exhibits, vendors and informative lectures, all dedicated to being watchful of your health, crammed into the Exhibit Hall. We, of course, will be visiting the table for Animal Acres, where abused and abandoned farm animals live to eat and not to be eaten (say hi to Judy if you should go—she’s volunteering on Friday at the table). However, if you’re interested in health-awareness issues but vegetarianism isn’t your meat, there’s everything in the room that’s related to alternative healing: organic food, products for comfort, enriched beverages, essential oils and food supplements, clothing and shoes, chiropractic and longevity treatments, alternative therapy treatments, and spirit-over-matter practice sessions. You can listen to a healing harpist as you relax and detox on a BioMat. There’s a Heal Your Hunger workshop, which we hope is strategically placed far enough away from the table featuring “healthy chocolate weight-loss products”—not that it would matter, of course.
The schedule of speakers features many topics such as FDA corruption and the abuse of power, naturopathic and other alternative physical treatments, weight loss and spiritual healing. Keynote speakers include Congresswoman Watson speaking about consumer protection; Dr. Orloff speaking on using intuition and emotions for healing; Ferrigno’s appropriately titled “Shape Shifter—From Hulky to Healthy,” and a number of other featured presenters. The documentary films—The Return of the Honeybee, The Future of Food and The World According to Monsanto—track the vanishing honeybee, the change to our food supply and how it all may affect the future of what we eat. The SOLAR XOF1 vehicle, developed by Canadian inventor Marcelo de Luz and which runs only on sunshine (and we do have plenty of that) will be on display as well.
A full list of vendors, events, speaker engagements and information is available by clicking here. The Expo is supported by the HealthKeepers Alliance, a not-for-profit lobbying organization that works year round to protect consumers’ rights, defends practitioners who use natural and nutritional cures, and lobbies against laws that remove individuals’ freedom to make informed healthcare choices.
The Expo is open to the public on April 3, 10 a.m.–7.p.m.; April 4, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. and; April 5, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. at the Long Beach Convention Center, 300 East Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802. Tickets are $15 per day, $35 for three days.
