Whether you’re an artist, arts enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the quality of life in Long Beach, your insights and experiences are being sought by the Arts Council for Long Beach who, in coordination with the City’s Economic Development and Cultural Affairs bureau and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, are undertaking an effort to reformulate the City’s Cultural Master Plan.

Tomorrow, Saturday March 28th, from 9-12:30, the Museum of Latin American Art is hosting “Create Long Beach,” a community forum designed to “identify Long Beach’s creative assets, and generate ideas to invigorate our culture of creativity.”  With a rather bleak fiscal forecast for the next few years, your participation is vital in helping establish priorities, practices, and philosophies that will carry us through these challenging times.

MOLAA is located at 628 Alamitos Avenue, just South of 7th Street, on the East side of the street.  There’s ample free parking.  Please arrive early so the process can begin on time.

Earlier this week I had a wide-ranging and relevant conversation, posted as a podcast,  with Robert Swayze, manager of the City’s Economic Development and Cultural Affairs bureau.  We discussed the importance of the meeting on Saturday, and address some of the opportunities and challenges for the City’s cultural and artistic future.

I look forward to seeing you at MOLAA on Saturday!
