Rand Foster, owner of Fingerprints, and Justin Hectus, board President of Arts Council for Long Beach, are both long time supporters of local music.  Last year they joined forces to produce an event that could simultaneously showcase home-grown musical talent and raise funds for music programs in schools.  Building on the initial success of that first, well documented event, they’ve united once again to present a nearly constant stream of top-notch local and regional talent as part of this Sunday’s University by the Sea.

The event, which kicks off at 10 AM and runs until 10 PM, will feature music on three stages.  On the Gilmore Acoustic Stage you can enjoy DJ Almighty Nectar, Lindsay Fine, Cory Joseph, Sas, Jameson, DJ Sonic Dread, AJ DeGrasse, CPO, Leldon, and The Year Zero (one of my personal favorites).

On the Indie 103.1 stage catch DJ Abel, young OC singing sensation Marliese, Paper Planes, Blank Blue, Brett Bixby, Molly Jenson, DJ Scotty Coats, Pawn Shop Kings, ForceFieldOn, Jay Buchanan, Mindy Nettifee, Grand Ole Party, Dusty Rhodes & The River Band, and closing is the legendary Dengue Fever.

On the Fingerprints Stage, you will savor the spoken word stylings of Mike The Poet, along with DJ Travis, Free Moral Agents (another personal favorite), One F, Loie Fuller, Shave (love these guys), The Brook Lee Catastrophe, DJ Lithuanian Prince, Greater California (soft is the new loud), Chris Hanlin, Deccatree, The New Fidelity, and Crystal Antlers.

If that weren’t enough (and really, it is) there’s a pre-event show on Saturday night at the Blue Cafe featuring Greg Laswell and One F.  The show starts at 10 PM.

The really sick thing is that these three stages are just one part of a much larger event, one that has something for everyone.

Oh…  Did I mention that it’s free?

See you there!
