It takes a special kind of person to transform their front yard into a haunted labyrinth set in early 1900s Long Beach. Robert Duck has that exact mix of craftsmanship and passion for Halloween.
His haunt, Fairbrook Manor, returns this weekend for its sixth iteration, featuring 30 local children — including Duck’s son — acting as various spooky characters.
Plus, Fairbrook Manor has raised $17,000 and 40 barrels of donated goods for the Long Beach Rescue Mission over the past five years.
Check out our story on Duck and the maze. And watch the video we did on the fairytale backstory he wrote … if you dare.

We have a new education reporter. Her work is great, but we were thinking of ways to introduce her to Long Beach — so we sent her to Dark Harbor. She had a blast and also recorded 45 minutes of footage on her phone. We cut it down to just the highlights.
