Since moving to Long Beach nearly two years ago, I’ve been to a few events that I knew would become yearly staples.
Last year, the Día de los Muertos parade — held for the past nine years in downtown — became one of those.
Unfortunately, this year’s parade was canceled in September “out of an abundance of caution” given the ongoing federal immigration enforcement in the region.
If, like me, you’re eager to celebrate Hispanic culture in these challenging times, Bixby Knolls will host live Mariachi music, art pop-ups, and an opportunity to honor loved ones at a community ofrenda this Friday.
