One of Long Beach’s most expensive and admired residences has chalked up another TV role following a one-day film shoot on Thursday for the upcoming ABC drama “Grand Hotel.”
Once again, the setting is Miami Beach, Florida, where the eponymous hotel is ostensibly located. At one point, a member of the crew stood out on the house’s bay front balcony and proclaimed, “A wonderful view of the Atlantic Ocean.” Or at least that’s the ocean portrayed by the placid Alamitos Bay, stretching out for miles from the front of the Mediterranean Villa set on a double lot at 6020 Lido Lane on Naples’ famed Gold Coast.
The three-story, five-bedroom, eight-bath home (with garage parking for six cars) was last sold in January 2017 for $6,581,250.
In terms of filming, the young house (built in 1989) is an old pro. It has been featured (generally in Miami roles) in “Dexter,” “CSI: Miami,” “Major Crimes,” “Jane the Virgin,” and “Veronica Mars.”
Crews and talents filmed at the home Thursday and they will clear out after striking the set on Friday.
“Grand Hotel” is based on the Spanish drama “Gran Hotel,” and is a sort of updated and relocated version of the popular British series “Upstairs, Downstairs” featuring the interplay between the hotel owner’s wealthy family and the hotel’s servants. It is planned for a debut in June 2019.
