We have some timely Easter-themed news: Kate and Avery, a penguin pair at the Aquarium of the Pacific, have an EGG (not candy-filled).

Kate laid her egg on Thursday and she’s expected to lay another in a few days, the aquarium announced on Friday. If the eggs are viable, they can take between 38 and 42 days to hatch. So those babies will be out of their little quarantine before we are.

But to keep up to date on their crucial development (do you really have other plans?), you can watch them live from their nest box.

According to the aquarium, Magellanic penguins build their nests around this time each year. If the eggs hatch, their parents will care for them during the first 20 days or so. When they’re ready to leave the nest, experts at the aquarium will move them to the nursery where they will learn how to swim and eat fish. Then they’ll join the big-kid birds in the penguin habitat.

There’s more live webcams all over the aquarium, including relaxing fish videos (also exciting for your cat).

Watch the penguins nest and be cute here or watch their friends swim around here.

Put on some lofi hip hop radio – beats to relax/study to and chill with the tropical reef here:

Or for some thrills, maybe put on the Jaws theme song and watch the shark lagoon here:
