28ABBAmaniaThe Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center at Cal State University, Long Beach has announced that ABBAMANIA will take the stage in all its colorful, bright-eyed, grooving glory on Sunday, May 3 at 2:00PM.

Disco-lovers can look forward to hearing the Canadian quartet’s tribute to ABBA as they perform such hits as “Mamma Mia,” “Dancing Queen,” “Take a Chance on Me” and “Fernando.” Backed by a live band and vocalists, making up 12 performers altogether, ABBAMANIA’s authentic costumes, vocal prowess and energizing stage presence will take viewers on a journey back to the 70s when the Swedish foursome reigned supreme.

The last time ABBAMANIA performed at the Carpenter Center was October of 2007, while the band has performed worldwide, with shows in Malaysia, South America, The Dominican Republic, Jakarta and the Grand Cayman Islands, along with the U.S. If you missed out on ABBA’s last California show in 1979, don’t miss your second chance to experience the next best thing to the pop group sensation.

Michelle Truman will portray Agnetha Fältskog, Monica Tietz as Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Mathew Whale as Benny Andersson and Nick Pattison as Björn Ulvaeus.

This is the last performance of the season for the theater’s Sunday Afternoon Concert Series.
