ArtExchange (ArtX) has announced the nine presenters for PechaKucha Night Long Beach #2 (PKNLB), a renowned global-speaker-series-made-local to provide a platform for creatives, residents and professionals in the area to present their ideas and work. This second installment of the series will be presented starting at 8:00PM during ArtX’s monthly Third Thursday programming from 6:00PM to 9:00PM.
John Thatcher Montgomery, Jr., PKNLB coordinator and studio artist at ArtX, said the first event in May set a great tone for the series.
“The first go-round had a great group of participants and an awesome audience,” he said. “For me, the night broadened my perspective of our city and the great things happening within it. Based on the feedback we received, the same was true for the audience. It is our intention to continue and expand on that trend in future PKNLB happenings.”
Nine local leaders, including Michelle Molina, managing partner of Millworks and Tracy Negrete and Katie Phillips, co-founders of Squeeze Art Collective, will present 20 images each for 20 seconds during this informally introduced meeting of the minds, a method to share the presenters’ passions and how they have translated their work into business, art and engagement.
Other speakers presenting to inspire are Tina Linville, a Long Beach-based artist, Kathleen Irvine and Jim Danno of the Willmore City Heritage Association, Damian Apunte of 4th Street Production, Chrissy Cox and Dawna Bass of Rainbow Juices and Demitrius Ziegler of Long Beach Farms.
Alongside PKNLB, the community is invited to participate in regular Third Thursday programming, including art activities, free workshops and 14 open artist studios.
For $10, bring your own t-shirt to be printed with a relief block from the Collective Print Shop studio’s collection. Guests can also purchase a t-shirt onsite for $10 and spend an additional $10 for the block print.
