The newly-renovated offices of the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), small business incubator MADE in Long Beach, and the Arts Council for Long Beach’s Collaborative Gallery will host a trio of art exhibits all within walking distance of one another, opening this Friday.

The DLBA will open its doors to the public after business hours Friday to showcase Talent Pool, in conjunction with REINVENTORYThe Honors Exhibition at the Collaborative Gallery and Enter Through the Gift Shop at MADE in Long Beach.

“The renovation of our offices was to not only to provide a more efficient workspace but to ensure that creativity and connectivity to the Downtown community remains alive and well,” said Kraig Kojian, President and CEO of DLBA. “This exhibit is an extension of that belief.”

Talent Pool will be shown in the DLBA’s offices for a year. The exhibition features 11 artists’ work out of the 80 artists who submitted their portfolios, the release states.

The DLBA paid the artists an honorarium for the use of their work. The artists featured in Talent Pool were selected by a committee that included Edward Dawes (Collection Curator at the Museum of Latin American Art). Artists showcased in the exhibit include: Margie Darrow, Denise Degrazia, Lewis Francis, Maggie Freed, Olga Lah, Noel Madrid, Jorge Mujica, Andrew Pisula, Melody Topping and Tracey Weiss.

With DLBA funding, artist and downtown resident Renee Tanner helped develop the concept of featuring art in the DLBA’s redesigned workspace.

“The DLBA sets an outstanding precedent with this exhibit as it encourages other property owners and businesses to exhibit and commission work from professional artists living and working in Long Beach,” said Tanner in a statement.

The DLBA office is located at 100 West Broadway, Suite 120, and will be open Friday, July 10 from 6PM to 9PM. The Collaborative Gallery is located at 421 W. Broadway and MADE in Long Beach is at 236 Pine Avenue.
