Early Baroque orchestra, Musica Angelica, will open its 26th season Saturday with two famous masterpieces inspired by nature.

Led by acclaimed Baroque oboist Gonzalo X. Ruiz and played on historical period instruments, the group will allow listeners to hear Italian composer Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and French composer Marais’ Alcyone like never before.

“From singing birds to babbling brooks and barking dogs, from summer storms to wintry winds, the seasons come alive in Gonzalo’s new setting based on Vivaldi’s own chamber concertos,” the announcement stated.

Ruiz, who said in a video clip that French Baroque theater music has long been a passion of his, acknowledged that while many will attend the performance to hear the “Four Seasons,” they “will leave talking about the incredible music of the first half, Marin Marias’ Alcyone.”

Tempest will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Beverly O’Neill Theatre Theater at 300 E. Ocean Blvd. Visit the website here for tickets and more information. And make sure to check out our fall season guide for more upcoming performances.
