Held2gether, Improv for Life is proud to present In Sketch We Trust at the Long Beach Playhouse on February 19 and 20 at 8:00PM. The Saturday Night Live-style event has become an annual favorite and a staple of the theatre’s Studio Collaborative season, according to the announcement released Friday. Last February they presented Attack of the 50 Foot Sketch Show to two sold-out audiences and are returning with an all-new show that promises a dozen sketches rife with original hilarity, satire and hijinks.

At the Attack of the 50 Foot Sketch Show, audiences were treated to sketches featuring a satire on the treatment of U.S. Veterans, unborn twins contemplating life inside the womb and a musical sketch about having a “Starbucks Lover”, according to the announcement.

In Sketch We Trust promises to be an equally entertaining evening of comedy, guaranteed to push the envelope at all its tightly sealed corners. Held2gether founder Darren Held directed the cast, composed of award-winning troupe members and talented newcomers from both Long Beach and the South Bay

“Each of the original sketches were written by the performer themselves under a prompt from the director,” said Held in a statement. “They have 30 minutes to create a sketch idea, and then I guide them through it, fleshing out the tone and comic timing. In a way the creative process is like a reality show. It’s kept the show fresh and spontaneous for six years. Our fans really love it.”

The sketch show is part of the Held2gether improv comedy program that features all levels of improv comedy classes in Long Beach, including sketch writing and performance. Held says he’s thrilled to be able to work with the Long Beach Playhouse Studio Collaborative, according to the announcement.

Performances of In Sketch We Trust are at 8:00PM on Friday and Saturday, February 19 and 20. Tickets are $15 and available through the box office at Long Beach Playhouse, by calling 562.494.1014 or visiting the playhouse website here.

Long Beach Playhouse is located at 5021 East Anaheim Street.
