Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) was host to the Native American celebration known as the Pow Wow for the 44th year in row.

The two-day event, spread over this past weekend, featured multiple tribes: San Carlos Apache, Cheyenne, Diné, Dinéh, Lakota, Kiowa, Taos Pueblo, and Tongva.

“We are celebrating 45 years of American Indian Studies, the oldest American Indian Studies program west of the Mississippi, at our 44th annual Pow Wow,” said Craig Stone, director of CSULB’s American Indian Studies Program and faculty advisor to the campus’ American Indian Student Council and Pow Wow Committee. “We are looking forward to the next 45 years and beyond.”

The event was presented by CSULB’s American Indian Studies Department, American Indian Student Council, American Indian Student Services, Student Life and Development, the Division of Student Services and Associated Students Inc.
