Susan McGehee, a California native, has been a weaver of metal and wires since the late 80’s. Using traditional weaving methods, she crafts wall-hanging pieces reaching 3 to 40 feet long that are produced on a computerized 16-harness dobby loom. Susan’s “Metallic Strands” exhibit on display at WE Labs incorporates many different colors and patterns, as well as remnants of electronics. The pieces provide a soft and moving aesthetic, contrary to the nature of metal. Susan has won numerous awards and has been displayed in many galleries and exhibitions throughout the United States.
Metallic Strands opening reception will be on November 9 from 7-10PM at the WE Labs West Wing Gallery in Downtown Long Beach, and will be on display until January 31, 2014. WE Labs is located at 235 East Broadway, 8th Floor.
