The 11th Annual Chalk Art contest was quite a site to be seen on the sunny Saturday of October 18: 91 artists from as far off as San Diego geared up with chalk, pastels and charcoal in hand, each vying for the top spot in this artistic challenge that takes over the bustling sidewalks of Belmont Shore.

Presented by the local nonprofit Community Action Team (CAT), approximately 20 finalists were named—you can see the video here—while top awards were presented afterward.

The 2014 Annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest winners were Shuji Nishimura with Best in Show, David Gilmore with 1st Place, Moe Notsu with 2nd Place for her Portrait of Andy Warhol and Lori Escalera with The Director’s Choice Award for her Pentant Magdelena. This is David Gilmore’s second time winning 1st Place, with a win from last year’s competition.
