The Arts Council for Long Beach announced last month that the 2018-2019 Annual Grant Cycle Applications and Guidelines are now available.
Supported through the City of Long Beach’s allocation for the arts, three types of grants to help Long Beach artists, organizations and initiatives include the Community Project Grant, Operating Grants I & II and Professional Artist Fellowship Grants.
Arts and cultural organizations are encouraged to apply for the Community Project Grant, which supports artistic, cultural and arts educational projects. The funds support innovative and unique programming that meets the diverse community’s needs.
Operating Grants give unrestricted support to local arts and culture organizations that collect, preserve, present and/or commission exemplary works of art, such as art exhibitions, film and/or media arts, theatre, dance and/or musical performances, according to the release.
“Works of art must be of regional significance, for the benefit of the general public and provide educational opportunities that enable audiences to better understand and appreciate the arts,” stated the release.
Long Beach artists can apply for the Professional Artist Fellowship, which recognizes artists who live, work or actively create within the city. These awards fund the work of artists who also demonstrate an active exhibition and/or production record of at least three years. Artists are selected for this grant based on artistic merit and professional achievement.
Past recipients of the Professional Artist Fellowship include fiber artist Carole Frances Lung, toy theater artist Yulya Dukhovny and more.
