If you missed the November premiere of Sky Blue Sea, a documentary on Long Beach’s rich naval and aviation background, produced by Cal State Long Beach (CSULB), now’s your chance to catch an integral dose of our city’s history on Sunday, June 5, when Los Angeles PBS station KLCS will broadcast it at 7:00PM.
KLCS broadcasts in Long Beach on Charter channel 25 and Verizon FiOS channel 15 and is available on both Dish and DIRECTV satellite services, according to the announcement.
Sky Blue Sea was produced by Advanced Media Production at CSULB, a division of the College of Continuing and Professional Education at CSULB. Dave Kelly, Director of Advanced Media Production, served as writer, producer and narrator for the television documentary, which was funded by a grant from the Long Beach Navy Memorial Heritage Association.
“Audiences across the country will be able to recognize or identify with the personalities, the ambitions and the events that placed Long Beach on the map and in the public spotlight,” stated Kelly. “We anticipate a very successful run for Sky Blue Sea on PBS TV stations nationwide. The history of Long Beach will come alive on TV screens all over the United States.”
Not only will the documentary air in Long Beach, but PBS affiliates across the country will be providing airtime during the next several months.
Sky Blue Sea incorporates early photos, old film and video clips of Long Beach from the city’s founding to present day. The documentary retells some of Long Beach’s greatest historical achievements, headline-grabbing events tragedies.
