One hundred years after it was first published, Sherlock Holmes and the Valley of Fear is being celebrated and performed by the Long Beach Shakespeare Company.

The play, adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel for a live webcast, is performed in old-time-radio style, with actors providing live sound effects during the show, adding a touch of comedy.

Surrounding the life of Sherlock Holmes, the storyline—of course—involves a murder that Sherlock must solve and villains he must face. This time around, the real-life stories of Pinkerton agent James McParland and the secret society known as the Molly Maguires are woven into the tale, which was first published in 1914.

Admission to the show is $10 for all ages. While the show opened this past weekend, tickets for shows this upcoming Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon are still available.
