Loiter Galleries, a local pop-up gallery program, will celebrate the grand opening of its latest collaborative “Loiter Pop Up Galleries” at the ongoing downtown development, The Streets, on Saturday, June 9 from 5:00PM to 10:00PM, it was announced.

Led by Long Beach-based photographer Vinny Picardi and painter Monica Fleming, the pop-up gallery will run into the summer, aiming to provide artists with a location to showcase their work at little to no cost.

“We will be the debut artists of what will hopefully be the first of many pop up gallery showcase opportunities for Long Beach artists in temporarily available storefronts,” Picardi and Fleming, co-proprietors of Loiter Galleries, said in a statement. “As cities redevelop, available gallery space is out of reach for most artists. Our goal is to ensure Long Beach artists will always have a venue to present their work.”

Loiter Galleries’ goal is to “aid in the responsible growth and progress of a city through art,” according to the website.

The opening will include art discussions and refreshments, with two-hour free parking at nearby public parking garages. For more information on Loiter Galleries visit the website here.

The pop-up will be located at 375 North Promenade in downtown Long Beach.
