POW! WOW! Long Beach organizers announced Thursday morning that the annual public mural festival will take place for its fifth year July 21-28, adding more than 20 murals and installations to its collection of over 70 pieces throughout the city.
Participating artists and events will be announced over the coming weeks, but fans can expect a KCRW Summer Nights Closing Party on July 27 with partners KCRW, Downtown Long Beach Alliance and Long Beach Transit.
The week-long mural festival, modeled after the founding event in Hawaii, has grown to include a worldwide network of events. Last year, PWLB 2018 brought muralists from all over the world to Long Beach, with previous festivals landing big names like James Jean, Tristan Eaton, FAFI and more while at the same time featuring local artists, including Dave Van Patten, Tatiana Velazquez, among many others.
