The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) are calling on a new pool of artists to submit their work to be displayed in their downtown Long Beach office for one year, according to the announcement.
In 2015 local artists Denise DeGrazia, Maggie Freed, Olga Lah, Noel Madrid, Jorge Mujica, Melody Topping and Tracy Weiss were chosen out of 80 applicants to showcase their work in the office exhibit: Talent Pool, which was opened to the public to view last summer.
“The DLBA sets an outstanding precedent with this exhibit as it encourages other property owners and businesses to exhibit and commission work from professional artists living and working in Long Beach,” said Tanner, as quoted in the article.
To continue this young tradition, artists are being asked to submit pieces that will fill the DLBA’s large wall space, to be displayed in the office’s reception areas and conference rooms, as well as adjoining work spaces.
Long Beach-based artists may submit up to 10 work samples, created within the past five years. Each sample must be a digital image of the artwork, complete with an identification card that includes the title of the work, medium used, dimensions of the piece, date of creation and sale price, if available.
Eligible submissions should include original work in the traditional fine art mediums, according to the release, as in photography, painting and sculpture, as a few examples. No jewelry, video or audio media will be accepted.

Alongside the work, artists must submit an “artist’s statement” of about 500 words, regarding the pieces submitted, along with a resume that does not exceed two pages. Artwork will be selected by jurors, including fine art and design professionals associated with the DLBA.
Deadline to enter is April 2; selected artists will be notified between April 15 to April 30; exhibition dates are May 2016 through May 2017. Those selected will also receive an honorarium as determined by the juried process, ranging from $100 to $500 per piece.
All applications must be submitted online here.
Selected artists will be required to enter into a contract for the display of artwork for one year, April 2016 to April 2017, and agree to allow DLBA to reproduce any of the images or documentation of artworks selected for exhibition to be used in marketing and publicity materials. Artists retain copyright and all other rights related to or for the artwork.
The DLBA offices are located at 100 West Broadway, Suite 120.
