Break out your grass skirt and get your hula on at this year’s hip-swinging celebration of Polynesian culture, Long Beach’s 14th Annual Tiki Beach Festival. As part of the Summer Beach Party series of events presented by The Port of Long Beach and Alfredo’s Beach Club, the Tiki Beach Festival will take place On August 23 and 24.
Bring your own conch shell and stop by the festival at sunrise for the Opening Prayer & Conch Shell Blowing Ceremony, then stay until dark to experience a torch lighting, fire knife dance and fire walk during the “Night of Fire” event.
“Ohana by the Sea” will be this year’s Tiki Beach Festival theme, and the fest will feature hundreds of Polynesian musicians and dancers, an Island Market with over 100 vendors and the famous Aloha Food Court. Admission is free, with VIP packages available. Food, beverages and merchandise will be for sale. Event highlights include Harvey & Foi Moe “Polynesian Village Carvers,” traditional arts and crafts including tiki carving, renowned masters of island music and dance, canoe rides and other activities.
On Saturday, August 23 guests can join the opening prayer at 9:30AM and stay until 9:30PM. Sunday, August 24 guests can attend a morning praise and worship event at 10:00AM and stay until 7:00PM so as not to miss the O’ahu Band.
