On Friday, Oct. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. the annual State of the Arts will be held at Expo Art Center in partnership with the Office of Mayor Robert Garcia, the Arts Council for Long Beach announced today.
Admission is free with an RSVP and all are invited to mingle with the city’s creative community as well as city leaders as they announce new projects and also recognize local artists for making an impact in Long Beach.
The arts awards, including the James H. Ackerman Philanthropist Award, identify individuals who have helped to support Long Beach’s creative fabric. You can nominate an individual for three different categories via the link here until Friday, Aug. 31.
Arts Revolution is the theme for the celebration, which “recognizes artists, performers, educators and administrators who work every day to foster creativity, enliven communities and enable a thriving arts city,” the announcement stated.
To RSVP, register at the Eventbrite link here. Tickets to the VIP reception, which includes a preview of the galleries, performances and a chance to meet the arts council’s Professional Artist Fellows can be purchased here.
The Expo Art Center is located at 4321 Atlantic Ave.
