The Long Beach Petroleum Club closes for good today.

The club, more than 60 years old, has had a hard time of late attracting new members, and that has led to it being sold. For some, it’s simply a sign of the times. Ryan Bailey, the man who helped put together the club’s sale said in an earlier Post article: “It’s sad, maybe, but I don’t think a social club like this is something that works these days with younger people.”

Others, feel the way Petroleum Club president Mick Connor does when he opined: “I wish this place could go on forever.”

The club will go on until 6 p.m. tonight, its fabulous circular bar open to the public for one last toast, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Cheers!
