A few years ago, Shy But Flyy crossed the bridge from San Pedro. Ever since, she has been taking Long Beach by storm.

For two years, she hosted the popular and acclaimed Expressions open mic in the gallery and performance space operated by the Cultural Alliance of Long Beach. More recently, she’s started running open mic events at Rebel Bite, taking place every Monday from 7:00 to 9:00PM. This month features female artists in celebration of Women’s History Month. Every Saturday from 8:00 to 10:00PM, she hosts another open mic at Shades of Afrika.

She’s also the singer in her own band, The Cold Shoulders. They’ve been playing regularly throughout the Southland, and have an album in the works. She’s also recently reprinted her first book of poetry, The Meaning of the Blues.

Shy But Flyy is doing a spoken word performance at 5:00 tonight as part of Live After 5’s Neo Soulstice event at the Breakers, located at 210 East Ocean Boulevard. At 9:00PM, she’ll be opening the night’s entertainment at The Federal Underground. Tomorrow, she’ll be featured at 8:00PM in the Royal Cup Cafe.
