2:15pm | The Arts Council for Long Beach is presenting their first ever Arts Bootcamp, a unique event designed to connect artists, arts organizers, and entrepreneurs with leaders and innovators in the arts community. The event takes place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4th, at the EXPO building, located at 4321 Atlantic Avenue in Bixby Knolls. The event runs from 5:30-8:30 PM, and admission is $10.
Several months ago the Arts Council sent out a survey to find out what the needs of the arts community were. This event is one of their efforts to address those needs. The event will include 6 panels, each with a specific focus. Topics include finding exhibition space, partnering with schools, marketing, grant writing, connecting with local media, and creating new art spaces.
Featured panelists include Sue Ann Robinson, Director of Collections for the Long Beach Museum of Art, artist and curator Michael Stearns, Long Beach Cinematheque founder Logan Crow, and Long Beach Playhouse Executive Director Lauren Morris. Representatives from the Press-Telegram, Gazette Newspapers, lbpost.com, LBReport.com, and EverythingLongBeach.com will also be on hand.
Tickets can be purchased in advance, or at the door. The event will start promptly at 5:30, so plan to get there early, and come with some questions. There will be three 30 minute sessions, with 15 minute breaks between each for networking.
The Arts Bootcamp is part of GLOBAL Long Beach Arts Month, which celebrates the amazing creative and cultural diversity in our City. It is presented with support from the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association.
