artscouncilThe Arts Council for Long Beach is once again seeking nominations for its annual Distinguished Arts Awards, which will this year be given to one artist, one leader, one emerging artist or leader and one volunteer or patron of the arts.

With the four awards, the Arts Council hopes to highlight individuals and organizations that have contributed to the city’s cultural vibrancy and played a role in the furthering of arts in Long Beach. Winners will be announced at the State of the Arts celebration, which will be held at the EXPO Arts Center in April.

Last year, the non-monetary awards were given to Trace Fukuhara (Distinguished Artist of the Year), Mark Zahn (Distinguished Arts Leader) and Yoshino Rosalia Jasso (Emerging Artist and Arts Leader). The volunteer/patron award is new to this year.

Nominations are due Monday, February 4. Applications can be downloaded by clicking here or visiting the Arts Council website.
