Comedian, author, and talk show host Chelsea Handler has made a career of observing the best and worst in herself, and others. Her first autobiographical book, “My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One Night Stands,” and her more recent tome, “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea” reveal an almost compulsive urge for side-splitting self-reflection.
“It’s been received pretty well,” said Handler in a brief drive-and-talk phone interview. “It’s on its 30th week on the New York Times’ Best Seller list.”
After 4 years on the stand-up circuit she earned a place in the Oxygen Network’s hidden camera comedy, “Girls Behaving Badly.” That led to her current gig as E! Entertainment’s celebrity gab fest, “Chelsea Lately.”
